ICT Strategy and Staff DevelopmentPrinciples - Institutions should have a coherent Information Strategy, based on an awareness of current and future needs, as shaped by policy decisions and recommendations such as Dearing and taking into account costs and benefits. This should translate into a Faculty or School-based version providing a framework for development effort, staff training, hardware and software purchases, etc. Although the vast majority of institutions do have some form of Information Strategy, it often does not translate smoothly into practice. Indeed, many staff are unaware of the content of their own Information Strategy. (cf Questionnaire results) Targets - Examples of how an Information Strategy may be turned into specific, meaningful targets at institutional and local levels will be provided. |
