Description of project

Rationale:
Although a wide range of authentic resources are available on the World Wide Web to support French language courses, little of appropriate complexity and quality has been produced to support 'content' or 'area studies' modules at specialist undergraduate level.

Contemporary France On-line (CFOL) would address this need by providing a range of web pages produced and quality audited by a team of experienced academics. The project would concentrate on postwar France a period studied at most UK HEI'S.

Deliverables:
Web-based materials (image-rich digitized lecture notes and self study questions and bibliography) produced and quality audited by a small consortium.

A range of web-based self-study resources on postwar France. The pages would cover the history, politics, literature, film and popular culture of France since 1945. They would link to other relevant web pages (e.g. PCF homepage) and would, themselves be interconnected by means of hyperlinks.
